Here in The Lab we have some pretty talented people, who not only thrive at work but also accomplish some spectacular achievements outside of work too. And this week we’d like to say a huge well done to our very own Joe Bosson, who last week represented Great Britain in the European Triathlon Championships!

Having always been a keen athlete, last year Joe set his sights on representing his country as part of Team GB. So, in September 2017, he entered the Thorpe Park Sprint Triathlon; one of five qualifying races across Great Britain.

Despite this being his first qualifying race, he smashed the required entry time, finishing just six minutes after the overall winner! The result of this tremendous effort was Joe achieving his goal and representing GB at the European Triathlon Championships held last week at Strathclyde Loch near Glasgow - which also happens to be one of the most challenging courses within Great Britain!

Sporting his team GB kit and with his family cheering him on (who flew all the way over from Mallorca just to show their support!), Joe again exceeded all expectations finishing with a time of 1 hour 11 minutes - despite the challenging course, 7am race start time, and the fact that this was his first GB outing.

So from everyone at Spacelab, Joe - we’re incredibly proud of you! We know you’re already looking ahead to the next one and we’ll be supporting you every step of the way.
