Reducing stress in The Lab. Part 5: Perks and puppies

By Katie Mitchelmore on 26 April 2019

In this five-part series we've been taking a look at how we've reduced stress here in The Lab. We've already discussed the positive impact that finding your purpose, having autonomy and freedombeing honest, and limiting emails can have on us in the workplace. In the final blog of the series we take a look at how small perks can make a big difference.

Perks and puppies

Work should be fun. After all, we spend over a third of our waking hours there. And whilst a good company culture goes so far beyond the perks that you offer, and certainly isn’t defined by them, perks are a great way of bringing fun into the workplace and providing a distraction from any stresses that people might be facing. So over the past couple of years we’ve introduced several perks and initiatives into The Lab, such as monthly massages, birthday lunches, yoga sessions, beer o’clock, socials and parties. We’re also dog friendly (you might have seen a few of our furry friends wandering around), which has been scientifically proven to help reduce stress and increase productivity in the workplace.
