The spiritual practices and beliefs of our client were the starting point for the design of this new north London home. Grounded in the principles of vastu, an ancient Indian system of space and energy similar to feng shui, the materials, configuration and orientation of the space were carefully combined to maximise interaction with the site’s natural elements.

The shady louvered courtyard creates a continuous feeling of indoors and outdoors, bringing nature right into the house. Similarly, a water structure runs right up into the courtyard, further connecting the house with the garden.
