The brief for this project was to create a new entrance area that could simplify the registration experience for parents and children. So we brought together all the non-clinical facilities that were spread throughout the hospital into one co-ordinated zone so that parents can sign forms, buy pyjamas, claim back taxi fares, all in one place without having to find their way through a maze of corridors.
As the first point of call, the entrance is now warmer, friendlier and less intimidating. Existing ‘dead spaces’ are united and the one-stop shop facilities are linked physically and visually to a new entrance, landscaped area, multi-faith facilities, coffee shop and the Orangery.
