This coffee shop at the Great Ormond Street Hospital was designed to feel connected to the outside area of the adjacent Orangery. Sections of timber flooring rise up and through the folding windows, extending outside to create platforms for seating and eating. Warm, natural timber provides a soothing respite from the clinical hospital wards.
Exposed high ceilings give a feeling of lightness and space, further enhanced by the glazed folding windows, which take advantage of the landscaped external space for calm, green views and fresh air circulation.
