Forget Black Friday and Cyber Monday, it's all about Giving Tuesday...

As part of our #MiracleOnWenlockRoad campaign we’re hosting a food bank drive here in The Lab, with the mission to make as much difference as possible to those living in poverty in our neighbourhood, and we’d love your help.

Here’s how…

  1. Pop to your local shop;
  2. Select any or all of the items on this list: cereal, soup, pasta or rice, tinned tomatoes, pasta sauce, lentils, chocolate, beans and pulses, tinned meat, tinned vegetables, tea/coffee, tinned fruit, biscuits, UHT milk and fruit juice. The Islington food bank particularly needs: toothbrushes, toothpaste, UHT milk, jams, long grain rice (1kg), washing liquids, detergent and baby food;
  3. Drop the items off at The Lab and say hi;
  4. We’ll collect all donations and deliver the food items to The Trussell Trust food bank.

Or, if you’d prefer to donate, you can do so here, and we will use the money to buy items for The Trussell Trust food bank.

Our #MiracleOnWenlockRoad pop-up donation centre will be open weekdays between 9.30am to 6pm, from 19 November until midday 17 December (except for 13th and 14th December), and is based at our home, The Lab, 18 Wenlock Road, London, N1 7TA.

Our local food bank has seen marginally fewer clients in recent weeks, and whilst we wish this was because people didn’t need to use it, the reality is that people are limited to a certain number of visits per year. Because of this many people in need ‘save up’ their visits until closer to Christmas to ensure that they can feed themselves and / or their families over the festive period.

School holidays are also a particularly tough time for families, with children spending more time at home and, as such, not receiving their free school meal over the holiday period.

Seems terribly far-from-festive, right?
