October isn't just a time for all of the leaves to fall off of the trees and to dress up in costumes to trick our neighbours into giving us sweets. For Spacelab, it's a time for us to get sporty and charitable at the same time.
Despite advances in scientific knowledge and patient information, primary bone cancer remains a rare and brutal disease that is not widely known. Just last year, the BCRT found that one in four people suffering with the illness visited their GP more than five times before a diagnosis was made.
Why Children and the Arts?
In a country where social inequality still remains a huge problem, Children and the Arts are working tirelessly to ensure all children from all backgrounds are given access to essential education in the arts. Their aim is to build children's confidence and life skills to reshape their futures.
What we're doing and how you can help
This year's Sports Week will commence on Monday 2nd October. Activities will include 'sports day shorts day', a sports quiz, a neighbourly raffle with fantastic prizes and other surprise events yet to be announced! Follow us on our social media channels for live updates throughout the week.
The grand finale will take place on Sunday 8th October. Our 'Spacelab racelab' team will be risking injury, fatigue, and public humiliation(!) to run the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon to raise funds for the charities. Please show them your support by sponsoring them here:
To show our thanks, we're offering a *grand prize* to the person who guesses how long it will take for all nine of us to run the length of the course. Simply add your guess to your donation and the person with the closest time will win a *case of wine*.
